Fun Friday!

One and a half days of school left?? Say wwwwwhhhhhaaaatttt?!?!

I hope that everyone has enjoyed their long weekend! I am happy to finally get the pictures from our final Friday of the year up! Last Friday we had field day, a pizza party, and an amazing performance from the group "Sheltered Reality."

I'm pretty sure that by the end of the day everyone was exhausted! It was a great way to end the school year, and it made for a fun Friday! Check out some of the pictures and videos from the excitement!

Down on the Farm

What an amazing, and busy, day!

We had the privilege of visiting Mr. and Mrs. Galeski's farm in Fayette today. They had brought in some of their animals earlier this year for us to see, and they were kind enough to let us come out and see the rest of the crew! They worked so hard preparing for us, and we are so grateful!

The students got to see donkeys, pigs, cows, chickens,  peacocks, and so much more! We were even able to hold, pet, and play with bunnies and piglets! The students had so much fun, and it was a great experience for them. There are a ton of pictures in our field trip photo album, so be sure to check them out!

Thank you so much to the parents who made it out to the farm to help us out! I know it was a bit of a trek to get there, but we appreciate you for volunteering!

Chick iMovies

Students loved having the chicks in our classroom! They had so much fun holding and playing with them. Since the chicks have been gone, we've been using some time in class to practice with the iMovie app, and the kids created a project to show tribute to our beloved chicks! Click the link below to check them out!

Recycled Project Museum!

Happy Friday!

Short post for today! We had our AWESOME recycled project museum this afternoon! The students were so creative with their projects, and we had so many supports come to see their work. Thank you to everyone who stopped by, and a huge thank you to the families and supporters at home who helped students with their creations. This is the first time that we have done this, but it may just become a 3rd grade tradition!!

Check out our "Earth Day" photo album for pictures from this afternoon!

Don't forget about Evening of the Arts tonight at 6:30. I hope to see you there!

Earth Day Adventures!

Happy Earth Day!!

Today, the third graders did a little community service in honor of Earth Day. We took a nature walk along the MKT trail in Columbia and did our part to make our Earth a better place to be! All students had a partner and a trash bag. As we walked along, we made sure to pick up as much trash as we could, and help clean up our community. It was a gorgeous day for the walk, and the students had a great time! To see some moments from our adventure, click the link below.

Students also did a writing and art activity in which they thought about what they could do to help the Earth. They each then took a picture with their "Lorax mustache" to add to their project. The Lorax photos are also in our Earth Day Album.

Opinion Writing

I'm finally getting our fabulous work shared out with you!

The class had been working so hard on their opinion writing pieces about how to make Grant School better. They took their work through the writing process and then had the opportunity to type their draft into Google Drive. From there, we learned about how to use a program on the the internet, called Tackk. Tackk allowed us to create some professional looking presentations for our writing! Feel free to click the link below and explore our Tackk page!!

The Day the Chickens Came to School...

What an awesome experience we had today!! We were lucky enough to have some guests visit our classroom and teach us about chickens! Mr. and Mrs. G did a wonderful job of presenting information and making our morning fun. They even let the chicks, hens, and roosters walk around and be held! Check out the photo album with pictures from our morning.

Chickens!

This made us even more excited for our own chicks to hatch next week! Only 4 more days!!

The 100th Day of School!

We had a hilarious day in third grade on the 100th day of school!

We started out with the spelling bee. Way to go winners, and great job to Emmett, Jane, Lily, and Tucker who represented our class!

The rest of the morning was spent having way too much fun with the Aging App! Students did some creative writing about what their life would be like if they were 100 years old. While they were writing, I was getting their pictures and aging them! To see how wonderful everyone looked, click the link below!

Old Timers of 3rd Grade

Our math time was spent doing some multiplication practice with factors and multiples. Little did the kids know that their teachers for the afternoon would look a little different...
